Registration
After a few windy days, Wednesday morning turned out to be just about as
perfect as a morning in Lake Havasu City can be in October. Our crew scheduled
to work registration reported to The Nautical Beachfront Resort's convention
center at 7:00 AM to set up and open at 9:00 AM. By 8:00 AM the temperature was
68 degrees and there was already a
rather long line of locals. Seems they got a message from one of their members saying
that we'd be open at 8:00 AM. When we were set up and open, there was a steady
stream of rodders for a good hour and a half.
Natural Tease, our T-shirt vendor, was set up in registration
so our event shirts could be picked up with a coupon the participants received
with their registration packet. They also had a nice assortment of other
Run to the Sun items available for purchase.
This year, we had a reserved parking option and a sign could be
purchased for $10.00 that would allow people to select a spot, or spots, on
Thursday morning. They were sold to the first 600 and a bunch were sold on
Wednesday with the remaining signs being sold on Thursday. This seemed to work
well and resolved the traffic jam at the gate on Friday morning at 6:00 AM. If
you have any thoughts about this, please feel free to give us your feedback.
Early arrivals also had the opportunity to purchase 50/50 and engine raffle
tickets for the drawings on Friday and Saturday. As the day progressed, the
crowd started gathering for the Kick-off Party that started at 5:00 PM.
Kick Off Party
When the Kick-Off party was ready to start at 5:00 PM, the temperature was
holding at around 88 degrees and the food lines were set up outside the
convention center. It was such a nice evening that a lot of people chose to eat at the
tables outside. What a great way to start off a week of
fun and the opportunity to show off their beautiful cars and trucks.

And some people opted to sit inside the air conditioned
conference center where there was plenty of
room .....

When the hamburgers were downed, it was time for some door
prize drawings and some nice gifts were won by the people in attendance.

At 8:00 PM it was still a mild 72 degrees and a lot of people were still
sitting outside. Soon it was time to head for a night of rest to prepare for the
Poker Run in the morning and the big cruise night on Thursday night.
