Poker Run

Due to popular demand, the Poker Run destination this year was once again the Blue Water Resort & Casino in Parker, AZ. The weather on Thursday morning was perfect for cruising and 215 cars made the 35 mile trek south to Parker along State Route 95. We bet that was quite some site for the cars traveling northbound.

The first card was drawn at the "Pink Hotel" on the island in Lake Havasu City and cars left there between 10:00 AM and Noon. One free hand came with each entry and additional hands could be purchased at the first stop for $5.00 each. From there, the cars crossed over the London Bridge and headed down SR 95 on their way to the scenic outlook, where the second card was drawn. The next stop was Havasu Springs to draw the third card. Stop four was at the State Park and the final card was drawn at the Blue Water Resort & Casino in Parker, where entrants enjoyed taking a break, having a bite to eat and doing a little gambling before heading back to Lake Havasu City for cruise night.

In addition to the cash prizes donated by the Blue Water Resort & Casino, they also provided the following prizes that were awarded to entrants on the Poker Run; a three night stay at the Blue Water with concert tickets for an upcoming concert on the weekend of their choice, a three night stay at the Blue Water, a two night stay at the Blue Water and they also provided several golf shirts that were given away.

Dave Patterson (Entry #702) won the $250.00 prize for best hand. He had four aces.

Katie Delk (Entry #312) won the $200.00 prize for worst hand with her 2 3 5 6 8 hand.

Our Poker Run Chairman also had a candy guessing game at the Blue Water Resort that was won by Ray Fields (Entry #37) from Lomita, CA. The jar had 298 pieces of candy and Ray's prize was the jar of candy, to share with his fellow Cruisin' 50's club members, plus a chair, hat, and a bag of goodies.

Trivia Contest

The people participating in the Poker Run this year also were given a sheet of trivia questions to complete on the drive to Parker. This multiple choice quiz had a $50.00 prize for the most correct answers and Bill  McMasters (Entry #546) got all but five answers correct and tied with another entry.
