30th Annual Run to the Sun - 2007
Lake Havasu City, AZ

Poker Run

The Poker Run this year continued on the route to the Blue Water Resort & Casino in Parker, AZ. The weather on Thursday morning was another perfect start and there were a total of 230 cars and trucks cruising along the Colorado River on the 35 mile trip along State Route 95.

The first card was drawn at the "Pink Hotel" on the island in Lake Havasu City and cars left there between 10:00 AM and Noon. One free hand came with each entry and additional hands could be purchased at the first stop for $5.00 each. From there, the cars crossed over the London Bridge and headed south on SR 95 on their way to the scenic outlook, where the second card was drawn. The next stop was at Havasu Springs, near Parker Dam, to draw their third cards. Stop four was at the State Park and the final card was drawn at the Blue Water Resort & Casino in Parker, where entrants enjoyed taking a break, having a bite to eat and doing a little gambling before heading back to Lake Havasu City for cruise night.

Thanks to the Blue Water Resort & Casino for their $500.00 donation for the Poker Run and  Trivia Contest prizes. They also provided additional prizes for the runner-ups in the way of $50.00 and $30.00 gift certificates to their restaurant and gift shop, concert tickets for Bill Medley and some 2 night stays at their resort.

Results of the Poker Run were:

Roger & Nancy Humphrey (Entry #173) won the $250.00 prize for best hand. They had a king high flush (KC QC QC 5C 4C)

Low hand was won by Gary Salter (Entry #834) with a 8 high (2 4 5 6 8) and he won the $200.00 prize for worst hand.

Our Poker Run Chairman also had a candy guessing game at the Blue Water Resort that was won by Fuzzy Muckelroy (Entry #622) who guessed 289 and hit it on the nose. He took home the candy and a bag full of goodies too.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the Poker Run this year. We hope to see you all again next year.
