Fashion Show
Every year the Fashion Show is a big hit with Run to the Sun ladies. The
doors were opened at 9:00 AM on Saturday morning and soon the convention center
was filled with what ended up to be over 350 ladies. This year the event was co-chaired
by Jan Edwards and JoAnn Dearen and it came together with
the help of 20 hard-working committee members.
The theme for this year's show was "Racing
for Pink Slips" which combined the concept of racing for pink slips (car
titles) with racing for a cure for breast cancer. All proceeds from the fashion show
will be donated to breast cancer awareness. As the room filled, there was a sea
of pink. Refreshments were served and there were even special pink drinks
available at the
cash bar.
Tables were set up with some nice prizes that were donated by
local businesses, and the
ladies of most of the area car clubs assembled some amazing baskets that were
raffled off. In total, there were 100 door prizes and eighteen raffle prizes,
some of which are shown below.
At the show, Nancy Warner and Jonny Mays handled the MC duties.
Entertainment was
provided by Charlotte Zulkowski.
The fashions, one casual set and one dressy set, were the highlight of the show
courtesy of Dillard’s,
Bon Worth, Chic Again, J.C. Penney and Sherry’s Casuals.
The fashion show also included
a casual pink outfit and a dressy pink outfit contest for the lady rodderettes. Each
one was given a number and they strolled across the stage in a parade of pink.
Sandra Konkright of
St. George, UT was the casual winner and Debbie Watkins
of Pueblo West,
CO was the dressy winner.
