Monday, October 19th
and Tuesday, October 20th
The Run actually starts for club members on Monday of Run week. Monday night
found our members stuffing goody bags at the convention center and all were in
good spirits while passing the bags down our "assembly line".

On Tuesday morning, some of these members were out on the golf
course laying out the lines so it could be striped on Wednesday.
Wednesday, October 21st
Registration
Wednesday morning was a bit breezy as we reported for work at The Nautical Beachfront Resort's
convention center. A line had already started to form at 7:30 AM and the same
local faces could be seen at the head of the line even thought there are no
prizes for being first in line. They were also 1-1/2 hours early last year and
they seemed to be catching up on the latest car gossip as they waited for the
doors to open.
On the left, some of our newer members are getting last minute instructions at the
check-in table for pre-registered entrants and on the right is an old member
ready to record entry numbers of everyone who checked in on Wednesday for the
kick-off party drawings Wednesday evening.
The engine raffle and 50/50 raffle table was ready to go and it
was a good time to drink that last cup of coffee before the doors opened.
Natural Tease, our T-shirt vendor, was set up in registration
on Wednesday and Thursday so our event shirts could be picked up with a coupon the participants received
with their registration packet. They also had a nice assortment of other
Run to the Sun items available for purchase. On Friday and Saturday, they moved
to the golf course and had booths set up there.
Once again this year, we had a reserved parking option that
sold for $10.00 per space on Wednesday and Thursday. They were set up at tables
outside the convention center and you had to show your entry number to purchase
a marker.
Kick Off Party
The Kick-Off party started at 5:00 PM as registration closed. Each entry
included two meal tickets and food lines were set up outside the convention
center. Hamburgers, baked beans, cold slaw, cake and soft drinks were on the
menu and a full service bar was also available.

There were plenty of tables for those who chose to sit inside.

Many people took advantage of the balmy weather and nice scenery and sat
outside.

After dinner there were drawings for door prizes and time for talk about the
upcoming days events. Soon it was time to head for a night of rest to prepare for the
Poker Run in the morning and the big cruise night on Thursday night. This local
group from the Outcasts car club were still having a good time after everyone
left.
