Our 33rd Annual Run to the Sun
is open to
1972 and older cars and trucks. We will be back on the island and our host hotel
will be The Nautical Beachfront Resort. This year The Nautical's special rate is
$69.00 per night so make your reservations early before they sell out. The hotel is located just 1-1/2 miles from the world famous London Bridge
on the island.
The show and
shine will be held on the 18 hole Island Golf Course, which is located next to
The Nautical.
This larger venue allows more space for show vehicles and spectator parking.
Our reserved parking option will be
available again this year.
Six hundred reserved spaces will be sold in registration on Wednesday, Thursday
and Friday. The $10.00 charge for this option will allow you to reserve your spot
on the golf course on Thursday morning so you can sleep in on Friday and
Saturday instead of getting up in the middle of the night to get in line with your
friends so you can all park together.
Once again, cruise night parking on
McCulloch Blvd on Thursday night will be reserved for people who
have registered for the show and there
should be room for all entrants. This is a very popular night with our participants and
community and if you've never attended, you'll be amazed at the number of
spectators on the street.
Something New Is
Being Added This Year
Over the years, we've had requests
for a Car Corral and Swap Meet area and this year we will be providing space for
both. The cost will be $35.00 and space sizes will be 10' x 20'. Cars for sale
in the Corral can be left on trailers and can be moved in on Thursday. The Swap
Meet will be for used auto parts only. The $35.00 fee will include (2) two day wrist
bands for entry into the show area.

London Bridge and the English Village
Registration will open on Wednesday morning at 9:00
AM but things will kick off that evening with a catered party for early
arrivals. Your entry will include two meal tickets and you will be able to visit with other car people while enjoying a casual meal
and our pleasant Arizona evening weather.
On Thursday morning, the golf course will be open
for those who choose to reserve a spot for the weekend. You will have time after
picking a spot to join us in our Poker Run.
This year's Poker Run will be about 30 miles
shorter than the past few years as the Blue Water Casino in Parker can no longer
host this event because of gaming laws. Entrants will leave from the Island Inn
(AKA "The Pink Hotel") and proceed to Havasu 95 Speedway, where they
will draw their second card and also have an option to make a lap around the
track. Next stop will be at Havasu Springs at the bottom of the lake and they
will have specials for Run participants in their bar and restaurant. A bit
further south is Gene Price Motorsports and their shop will be open for everyone
to view their projects. After your fourth card is drawn, you will head back
towards Lake Havasu City and the final stop at Windsor Automotive. There you
will draw your last card and have time to enjoy a cold drink and hot dog. Cash awards will be given for the best and worst poker
hands and there will also be some door prize drawings while you relax before
heading for Cruise Night.
Starting at 4:00 PM, upper
McCulloch Boulevard in our Main Street area will be closed off for our huge cruise night
and thousands of local residents will be cruising the street looking at the
hundreds of cars there. The weather is usually very pleasant in the evening at
this time of the year and you're sure to have a great time there.
During the show and shine on Friday
and Saturday, there will be a vendor area on the golf course with automotive vendors as well as food and drink vendors. If you are interested
in being a vendor at our show, click
here to request an application.
We will have door prize drawings
both days for participants and tickets for the optional 50/50 and engine raffle
will be sold in registration and on the golf course during the show. Tickets for the
engine raffle will only be sold to Run
to the Sun entrants. The engine raffle will also have some other super
prizes that will be given to the lucky holders of engine raffle tickets on
Saturday afternoon.
On Friday evening, a Sock Hop will be held in The Nautical's Convention Center after the
banquet and you can dance until 9:00 PM to the music of the live band, Pirate.
Saturday morning will find most of the ladies at the very
popular fashion show in the Convention Center. The theme for this
year's show is "ROAD TRIP DOWN ROUTE 66". Prizes will be
awarded for the best outfits. More
door prize drawings will be held
during the fashion show and
some nice gifts will be given away.
The
awards ceremony will be on Saturday
afternoon and we will be giving away our popular Kachina trophies. These trophies will go to the Top Ten vehicles plus the
winners in each of the 29 classes selected by other entrants. There will also be trophies for vehicles
picked by our sponsors, members of our community and club officials. Each trophy is hand
made by the Navajo Indians in northwest New Mexico and each one is unique. Each
Top Ten winner will also receive a special Run to the Sun Top Ten jacket. When
all awards have been presented, the 50/50 and engine raffle tickets will be
drawn.
Your entry includes 2 meals at the Kick-off
Party on Wednesday, a custom designed event T-Shirt, Beverage Tickets, 2 Arm Bands for the Show
& Shine, Fashion Show for the
Ladies, the Poker Run, the Cruise Night on Upper McCulloch Blvd, 2 meals at the
Friday banquet,
the Friday night Sock Hop with a live band, the parade on Sunday morning and a
chance to win one of our great give-away prizes. Five days of fun and sun in
Lake Havasu City. In addition, the first 1,000 entries will receive a Souvenir
Mug and Dash Plaque. Enter early to receive these bonus gifts.
Entries postmarked before October 1, 2010 are
$75.00 and $85.00 thereafter. If
